Scenario 7
You and two or three others have offered to run a tea-time club (e.g. Christian Union) at
school. The Headteacher asks:
a) to see all the material you intend to use
b) to vet it against their multi-faith policy
What do you do?
Clues
With the Governors and Headteacher, clarify the basis on which you intend to operate the club
- Purely voluntary?
- If you are dependent on the goodwill of the Governors and Headteacher for the use of the premises, it's a good idea to share the aims and material with them
- If it is voluntary, the school could not insist on vetting it against their multi-faith policy
- Paying for the premises?
- The Headteacher could not insist on seeing or vetting anything
BUT....whatever the arrangements, it's important to maintain good relationships.
