Useful Sources of Information & Help
Online resources are now available as portals to all kinds of detailed information specially classified for RE teachers. The following are good starting points:

See www.theredirectory.org.uk for comprehensive
details.
Descriptions of the faith practices and experiences of Christians in different denominations can be found at www.pof.reonline.org.uk/Christianity.php.
Extensive details of RE resources, linking through to other major sites, can be found at
www.reonline.org.uk
These resources and most of the links that they contain are designed specifically for RE teachers and learners. Listings include audi-visual resources.
A multitude of books give a general overview of Christianity, designed either specifically for RE and for the general reader. It’s worth reading one or two of these as another, narrative, starting point. Try, for example, Owen Chadwick’s beautifully illustrated and comprehensive ‘A History of Christianity’ (Weidenfeld & Nicholson 1995) or ‘Jesus’ (Lion), also well illustrated but more compact. Both give a good feeling for the bigger picture.
