The RE Directory
The RE Directory is a useful tool for every RE teacher, the site provides names and addresses of all organisations, companies and resource providers with an interest in RE.
Over 20 years
The first RE Directory was published in book format and produced for the RE Council of England and Wales in 1982 by Dr Brian Gates.
Convenient
In the intervening years, with the arrival of various Acts and Circulars, the RE world has changed considerably; but, there is still a need for a simple 'starter' resource document to give RE teachers a convenient source of information. Here in one place they can find the telephone number of their RE adviser or the diocesan schools adviser; somewhere to look for that elusive artefact or poster; someone to call for information about speakers from various faiths, and a range of organisations whose fields of interest are explained and whose provision of help and advice is noted.
'First Stop'
The Directory does not attempt to be exhaustive: rather it is intended as a 'first stop' document. Funded by the St Gabriel's Trust, produced and partly funded by Culham Institute and sponsored by the RE Council, it is hoped that it will enable both new and experienced RE teachers to find the information they need.
