About the Leaders
Dave Francis
Dave Francis is the Associate Adviser for Religious Education in Somerset and North Somerset. He worked as a teacher of RE for fourteen years, including ten as Head of a Department of Religion, Philosophy and Social Education. He is the author of four text books for RE and of the original levels for assessment which were the foundation for QCA national expectations. In 1996 Dave retrained as a Primary teacher. He is a former Chair of the Association of Religious Education Inspectors, Advisers and Consultants (AREIAC), and an accredited Ofsted team inspector. He is the main author of a self-evaluation toolkit for RE subject leaders in primary, secondary and special schools and of the 'Better RE' website.
