About the Leaders
Mark Chater
Mark works for the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority where he has responsibility for several projects in RE, spiritual and moral development, cultural diversity and initial teacher training. In the last year he has been working on exemplar units of work for the non-statutory National Framework for RE, the secondary curriculum review for RE, supporting the work of SACREs and developing guidance for Agreed Syllabus Conferences.
Before joining the QCA, he was a teacher trainer in primary and secondary RE, a Reader in Education and researcher in aspects of spirituality and education, among other issues. Before that, he was a secondary teacher of RE in three very different schools in Scotland and England.
